We encourage combining Portuguese and Brazilian Studies with coursework in Spanish through Department-offered options like the Spanish and Portuguese Major and the  Portuguese and Brazilian Studies Minor. Accelerated Portuguese for Spanish speakers and upper-division courses taught in English are also available and offered regularly.

To enter the Portuguese and Brazilian Studies minor, students must have an overall grade-point average of 2.0 or better and must complete Portuguese 27 or equivalent. A petition to declare the minor should be filed with the undergraduate counselor in 5314 Rolfe Hall.
